PICTR DAY is a curated portrait experience rooted in the feeling of old school picture day — slowed down, intentional, and meant to last.
We grew up knowing the ritual: getting dressed with care, standing in front of a simple backdrop, being asked to hold still for just a moment. those photos became records — tucked into albums, framed on walls, passed down over time.
PICTR DAY takes that familiar feeling and reimagines it for now.
a reimagined picture day
the experience
Each PICTR DAY is designed as a complete moment — not just a photo, but an atmosphere.
From the pacing to the set design, everything is considered. no rushing. No over-performing. Just space to arrive, settle in, and be seen.
We draw from the structure of traditional picture day and elevate it through thoughtful styling, lighting, angling and environment. What we get as a result are portraits that feel archival, cinematic, and personal all at once.
This is picture day without the pressure. Familiar, but refined.
the inspiration
PICTR DAY is inspired by vintage studio portraits, school photo archives, album covers, theater headshots, and the quiet confidence of being photographed simply and well.
We’re interested in memory — how images hold time, how they become artifacts, how they outlive trends. we believe portraits don’t need to be loud to be powerful. sometimes the most lasting images are the most restrained.
how it flows
Arrive.
Take a breath.
Step into frame.
The process is guided, calm, and collaborative. We offer direction when needed, and space when it’s not. Whether you come alone or with someone you love, the experience is designed to feel grounding — like returning to something you already know, just done with more care.

In collaboration with their partner, filmmaker and photographer LaQuann Dawson, SUN CHILD designs intentional, mixed-media photo environments using texture, and “magic.” These installations are created as worlds rather than backdrops — spaces that invite self-expression, hold story, and bring people together.
Their work centers connection, creativity, and care, transforming photo booths into shared experiences that feel personal, elevated, and human.
why pictr day matters
In a world where images are made and discarded constantly, PICTR DAY slows the process down.
It’s an invitation to be documented with care.
To mark a moment.
To create something that lasts beyond the scroll.
These are photos meant to be revisited — years from now — the way old school picture day photos still are.
